Expert Rating
The Mometrix NCLEX-RN Review Course costs $79.99 a month, and that is the only way to buy it. There is no three month plan, no annual plan and no discount for staying longer, so the course is good value for exactly one month and gets worse every month after that.
What you get for the first $79.99 is genuinely substantial: 12 full-length NCLEX-RN practice tests, 1,920 plus practice questions, 36 Next Generation case studies and a library of lessons, videos and flashcards. What you do not get is any protection beyond a 7 day refund window.

What the Mometrix NCLEX-RN Review Course is
Mometrix is a test-prep publisher best known for its Secrets study guides, and this is its online course arm rather than a book. The NCLEX-RN Review Course is a self-paced subscription product: you pay monthly, you get everything at once, and you keep access until you cancel.
It is worth separating the three NCLEX things Mometrix sells, because they get confused constantly:
- The free practice tests on Mometrix Academy, which cost nothing and need no account.
- The NCLEX Secrets study guide, a printed book or ebook with practice questions bundled in as a bonus. The NCLEX-PN edition is $29.99 as an ebook and $34.99 printed.
- The NCLEX-RN Review Course reviewed here, which is the only Mometrix product that carries the 12 full-length practice tests.
What the subscription includes, taken from the course page:
- 140 plus NCLEX-RN study lessons
- 1,920 plus practice questions with step-by-step answer explanations
- 12 full-length NCLEX-RN practice tests
- 36 Next Generation NCLEX case studies, three inside each practice test
- 120 plus review videos, about 8 hours in total
- 1,000 plus flashcards
- Progress tracking and practice question statistics
- Test-taking strategy, study skills and test anxiety material
The lessons are organised by NCLEX client needs category. Mometrix lists Management of Care at 13 lessons, Safety and Infection Prevention and Control at 6, Health Promotion and Maintenance at 23, Psychosocial Integrity at 8, Basic Care and Comfort at 8, and bundles the remaining categories into a block of 67 lessons. Each block ends in a quiz.
Mometrix NCLEX-RN review for 2026
Twelve full-length tests is the real reason to buy
Practice test volume is where this course is strongest, and it is not close. Twelve full-length NCLEX-RN simulations is four times what Peterson's includes. If you are the kind of candidate who learns by sitting the test and reading the explanations afterwards, there is a lot here to work through in a month.
The case study coverage matters more than the raw count. Every one of the 12 tests carries 3 case studies, which gives you 36 clinical judgment blocks. Case studies are the part of the Next Generation NCLEX that cheaper products skip or gesture at, and a course that puts them inside every full-length sitting is rehearsing the exam as it is actually built. Every question carries a step-by-step explanation, so the tests work as teaching material rather than just as scorekeeping.
The honest limit: 1,920 questions is a respectable bank but not a large one. Archer Review carries 3,100 plus with unlimited adaptive exams, and the Mometrix course page never claims its practice tests are computer-adaptive. The real NCLEX is adaptive and stops somewhere between 85 and 150 items, so 12 fixed-length tests rehearse the content without rehearsing the format. Our review methodology treats an unstated feature as unconfirmed rather than absent, so ask Mometrix support before you buy if adaptive practice is your reason for buying.
The price never falls, which changes everything
Here is the thing that decides this review. Mometrix charges $79.99 for month one, $79.99 for month two and $79.99 for month three. There is no term pricing anywhere on the page, no annual option, and no loyalty discount. Every other NCLEX course we review does the opposite.
What three months of NCLEX course access costs. Source: provider pricing pages, read September to November 2026.
Most nursing graduates study for six to twelve weeks, not four. Price the course over that window and it looks very different from the headline. Two months is $159.98. Three months is $239.97. For $239.97 you could buy NCLEX Bootcamp's three month plan at $129 and still have $110 left over. Achievable sells a full year of NCLEX access for $149, which is $90 less than three Mometrix months.
Only Hurst Review costs more over 90 days, at $249, and Hurst includes live and streamed classroom options that Mometrix does not. On a pure self-paced comparison, Mometrix is the most expensive way to study for three months that we review.
Mometrix Academy advertises a code, NCLEX20, for 20 percent off. That takes the first month to roughly $64 and a three month run to roughly $192, which narrows the gap without closing it.
Seven days, and no pass guarantee
Mometrix gives you 7 days from the order to request a refund. You email support with the subject line "Satisfaction Guarantee Refund", and the page says it is granted with no questions asked. Cancelling the subscription itself is self-serve from the Subscriptions page in your account, which is better than the providers that make you phone in.
Seven days is short for a licensing exam. The course page is also explicit that this is not a free trial and that billing starts immediately, so you pay $79.99 before you see a single lesson. There is no sample lesson, no preview and no demo on the sales page.
More to the point, there is no pass guarantee of any kind. NCLEX Bootcamp refunds the full price if you fail on its two and three month plans. SimpleNursing sells a dedicated pass guarantee tier. Mometrix offers neither, which is a strange gap for the most expensive self-paced option in the category.
Pricing
One plan, verified on the course page on 5 November 2026.
| Window | What you pay | Effective monthly | What changes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 month | $79.99 | $79.99 | Everything unlocked on day one |
| 2 months | $159.98 | $79.99 | Nothing. The same price again |
| 3 months | $239.97 | $79.99 | Nothing. The same price again |
The subscription renews every month until you cancel it, and Mometrix shows a "$186 Value" anchor beside the price rather than a comparison with any real plan. Institutional pricing is quoted separately for schools.
Who the Mometrix NCLEX-RN course is best for
Candidates with a test date four to six weeks out. One month of Mometrix at $79.99 buys 12 full-length tests and 1,920 questions, which is more timed practice than you can realistically finish in four weeks. Used that way it is fair value and the flat price never has time to hurt you.
Repeat test takers who need volume, not teaching. If you failed a first attempt and already know the content, 12 fresh simulations with worked explanations and 36 case studies is exactly the drill you need. Work through them, cancel, move on.
Candidates who want case study practice specifically. Thirty-six clinical judgment blocks come built into timed full-length sittings rather than sold as a separate drill pack, which is how the real exam presents them.
When you might look elsewhere
Buy NCLEX Bootcamp instead if your prep window is longer than a month. Its three month plan is $129 against Mometrix's $239.97, the questions were written for the Next Gen exam rather than adapted to it, and the two and three month plans carry a full-refund pass guarantee that Mometrix does not match.
Buy Achievable instead if you want to stop thinking about billing. One payment of $149 buys 365 days, so a prep cycle that slips by a month costs you nothing extra. That is the opposite of how Mometrix works.
Buy Archer Review instead if you want adaptive practice. Unlimited computer-adaptive exams from $129 rehearses the variable-length format that 12 fixed-length Mometrix tests cannot.
Buy UWorld's NCLEX Self-Assessments instead if all you want is a readiness verdict. A single 100-question predictor is $25 and returns a probability of passing, where a month of Mometrix is $79.99 and leaves you to interpret 12 percentages yourself.
If you are still working out how much practice you need, our NCLEX study guide converts the current test plan percentages into the number of questions each category is worth, and the wider NCLEX hub carries the books, question banks and courses we rate highest.
Final verdict
Mometrix earns 3.4 out of 5. The course itself is better than its reputation suggests: 12 full-length tests with 36 case studies and step-by-step explanations is real practice volume, the lesson and video library is broad, and the material is organised the way the exam is organised. On content alone it would rate higher.
It loses the difference on commercial terms. A flat $79.99 a month with no term pricing means the longer you prepare the worse the deal gets, and a 7 day refund window with no pass guarantee is the weakest protection among the courses we review at this price. That is a product priced for a sprint sold into a market that mostly studies for two or three months.
Mometrix NCLEX FAQs
How much does the Mometrix NCLEX course cost?
It is $79.99 a month, and that is the only plan. There is no three month, six month or annual option and no discount for a longer commitment, so two months costs $159.98 and three months costs $239.97. Mometrix Academy advertises code NCLEX20 for 20 percent off, which brings a first month to roughly $64.
How many practice tests does Mometrix include?
Twelve full-length NCLEX-RN practice tests, drawn from a bank of 1,920 plus questions. Each of the 12 tests contains 3 Next Generation case studies, which comes to 36 case studies in total. Every question carries a step-by-step answer explanation.
Does Mometrix have a pass guarantee?
No. The only money-back protection is a 7 day satisfaction guarantee: email Mometrix support within 7 days of your order with the subject line "Satisfaction Guarantee Refund" and it is granted with no questions asked. There is no refund or free extension if you sit the NCLEX and fail.
Is there a free trial of the Mometrix NCLEX course?
No. The course page states plainly that billing starts immediately and that this is not a free trial, and there is no sample lesson on the sales page. The free NCLEX-RN practice test on Mometrix Academy is the closest thing to a preview, and it is a separate product from the course.
Does the Mometrix subscription renew automatically?
Yes. It renews every month until you cancel. Cancelling is self-serve: open My Account, click Subscriptions, click View on the subscription, then click Cancel Subscription. Do this before your renewal date if you only wanted one month.
We may earn commissions from some links on this page, but this does not affect our reviews or your experience.
Our Verdict
Mometrix sells a competent NCLEX-RN course with more full-length practice tests than most of its rivals: 12 of them, each carrying 3 Next Generation case studies. The problem is how it is priced. At a flat $79.99 a month with no term pricing, three months costs $239.97, which is more than Achievable charges for a full year, and the only money-back protection is a 7 day satisfaction window rather than a pass guarantee. Buy it for one focused month, or buy something else.
