Target Test Prep has no GMAT practice tests to sell you. What it has is a custom test builder inside its course, so you generate as many Quant, Verbal and Data Insights sets as you like from a bank of 4,000 questions on every plan, starting at $299 a month. That is the right tool if your problem is unlimited targeted practice with explanations, and the wrong one if what you wanted was six more full-lengths that tell you your score.

Two things are worth knowing before you spend anything. TTP gives away a 64-question diagnostic and a 5-day run of the whole course, both at no cost, so the engine can be judged for free. And the "130-point score improvement guarantee" in the headline is a sliding scale: the 130 applies only if you start at 535 or below. Everything below was read on 21 September 2026.

This is a feature, not a product. The plans page lists the same contents against every tier: the custom test builder, 4,000 practice questions, 1,500 lessons, 1,200 flashcards and the analytics engine that sits under all of it. You cannot buy the tests on their own at any price.

What you get when you open the test builder:

• Unlimited custom tests across Quant, Verbal and Data Insights, built to whatever mix of topics you choose.
• Written and video solutions on every question, which is the thing GMAC's official exams famously do not give you.
• Per-topic accuracy and pacing analytics that carry across every test you build, plus error tracking that feeds the next set.
• Chapter tests attached to each lesson, so the drilling is wired into the curriculum rather than sitting beside it.

The free routes in are better than most providers offer. TTP's free GMAT diagnostic is 64 questions covering all three sections and returns a detailed analytics report at the end, for a name and an email. We review it separately as a standalone diagnostic test. The 5-day trial then opens the full Self-Study course, and the plans page prices it at zero against a struck-through $299, with "No automatic billing" printed beside the button. Note that TTP's own diagnostic page still carries an older "Try the course for $1" button, so the site quotes the trial two ways. The checkout is the one that counts, and it reads 0.00 due today.

What the test builder actually does

You set the rules, then the platform assembles the test. The setup screen asks for a time per question rather than a clock for the whole section, and it asks whether you want explanations held back until the end or shown after each question. Sessions pause and resume, and retaking a test you have already built overwrites the earlier result.

That design tells you what this is for. A test you build with two minutes per Quant question and explanations after every answer is a teaching exercise. A test you build in the quiz mode with no explanations until the end is an assessment of a topic you think you have finished. Both are more useful, more often, than another full-length.

The bank is deep enough that repetition is not the constraint it is elsewhere. Students of mock packs run out of new material after four or five tests. Here the limit is your own patience for Rate Problems.

What it cannot rehearse

The real exam is a specific object. GMAC runs it as 64 questions in 2 hours and 15 minutes: 21 Quant, 23 Verbal and 20 Data Insights, each section in 45 minutes. Within a section you can bookmark questions and then edit up to three answers at the end, but only if you have time left, and you can take the three sections in any order.

None of that is what a custom test drills. A per-question timer teaches you to hit an average; a section clock teaches you to spend four minutes on one question and claw it back on the next three, which is the skill the exam actually tests. Deciding which three answers to revisit with two minutes left is another skill, and it is not in this product either. Neither is the experience of a test that hands you a harder question when you get one right.

The scoring gap follows from that. TTP never promises a predicted score, on the diagnostic or anywhere else: it promises an analytics report and a read on your strengths and weaknesses. That is an honest description of what the product produces, and it is also the reason a strong TTP week tells you nothing reliable about a 645.

What the 130-point guarantee actually promises

The number in the marketing is real, and it is the ceiling rather than the offer. TTP's score guarantee page sets the promise by the score you held before you started, and it falls fast.

A student at 500 is promised 130 points. A student at 645, the one most likely to be shopping for practice tests rather than a course, is promised 20. The conditions are strict as well: finish the whole course, hit the accuracy benchmarks in your study plan, and get your official score report to TTP within 30 days of the test. Accelerated Study Plans do not qualify, and neither does studying Quant and Data Insights only or Verbal only. Enrolment has to have been on or after 1 February 2024.

Then there is the remedy. If you meet every condition and your score does not move, TTP gives you "a free course subscription equivalent to your previous purchase". That is more course, not your money back. OnDemand and LiveTeach carry a different promise, a 715 or better rather than a point increase, which is a guarantee aimed at people already near the top.

Pricing

Five plans, one test builder. The tests are identical on all of them, so what you are choosing is how much teaching comes attached and how long you keep it.

The six-month Self-Study plan is the cheapest month you can buy, at $149.83 against $249 for the monthly plan, a 40 percent difference for the same product. If you are going to use TTP for more than about ten weeks, the monthly plan is the expensive way to do it.

Treat the discount column as the price rather than a deadline. The banner across the top of the plans page reads "Save up to $400 on Target Test Prep GMAT plans. Ends September 20, 2026", and the discounted figures were still on the buy buttons when we read the page on 21 September. Our own check three weeks earlier found the same reduced prices. A sale that never ends is a price.

One caution on the feature copy. The plan cards advertise 2,200 instructor-led video solutions, the two comparison tables further down the same page say 2,000, and the trial panel says 1,200. Take the smallest number as the safe one and do not choose between plans on that line.

Who Target Test Prep Custom Tests Is Best For

• Students buying the course anyway, where the builder is the practice engine you get for free rather than a purchase you are weighing.
• Anyone with one broken sub-section, where 40 targeted Data Insights questions with video solutions fix more than a fifth full-length ever will.
• Quant-weak candidates, which is the population TTP was built for and still serves best.
• Students who want their errors tracked for them, because the analytics carry across every test you build rather than reporting each one on its own.
• Anyone who has not decided yet, since the 64-question diagnostic and the 5-day trial cost nothing.

When You Might Look Elsewhere

• You want to know your score. GMAC's official practice exams are the only ones built on retired real questions and the exam's own algorithm. Nothing in this product replaces them, and TTP does not claim it does.
• Mocks are genuinely all you want. Experts' Global sells fifteen full-length Focus Edition tests for a fraction of a month of TTP, with the first one free. Buying a course to reach a test builder is a poor way to spend the money.
• You want adaptive full-lengths with analytics. e-GMAT's SIGma-X engine reports by sub-section and difficulty band on tests that are built to run like the exam.
• You want official exams bundled with instruction. The Manhattan Prep Self-Study Toolkit packages GMAC's own exams with a syllabus, which is the opposite trade to this one.

Final Verdict

Target Test Prep earns 3.9 from us on this page, and the number is about fit rather than quality. Judged as what it is, an unlimited custom test builder wired into a curriculum with an explanation behind every question, it is the strongest drilling engine in GMAT prep. Judged as what the search term asks for, practice tests, it does not compete, because it has none.

The marks come off for the packaging. There is no way to reach the builder without buying a course, the cheapest door is $249 and the page you land on says $299, and the guarantee that gets quoted everywhere as "130 points" is worth 20 points to a student sitting at 645. None of that makes the product worse than it is. It does mean the people most likely to search for TTP practice tests, retakers hunting for more full-lengths, are the people it fits least.

Not in the sense most people mean. There are no fixed full-length exams, no adaptive question selection and no GMAC scoring algorithm, so nothing in the product predicts your score. What TTP gives you is an unlimited custom test builder over 4,000 Quant, Verbal and Data Insights questions, each with a written and a video solution. It is a drilling tool rather than a mock pack, and it only exists inside a course plan.

Can you buy Target Test Prep practice tests on their own?

No. The custom test builder is bundled into every TTP plan and is not sold separately, so the cheapest route to it is the monthly Self-Study plan at $299 list, discounted to $249 when we read the page in September 2026. If practice tests are the only thing you need, a dedicated mock pack costs far less than a month of TTP.

Is the Target Test Prep GMAT diagnostic free?

Yes, and it is a real test rather than a sample. The diagnostic runs 64 questions across Quant, Verbal and Data Insights and ends with an analytics report on your strengths and weaknesses. It needs a name and an email, with no card. TTP separately offers 5 days of full Self-Study access at no cost, and its own FAQ answers the obvious question about automatic billing with a flat "Never."

How accurate are Target Test Prep practice test scores?

The question does not really apply, because TTP does not report a GMAT-scale score from a custom test. You get accuracy and pacing by topic, and the trend across the tests you build. For a number you can act on, sit an official practice exam. Use TTP to find out which topics are costing you the points, then use GMAC's exams to find out what those points are worth.

Is the 130-point Target Test Prep guarantee real?

It is real, and it is smaller than it sounds for most people. The 130 points apply only to students who scored 535 or below before starting; the promise drops to 70 points at 545 to 595 and to 10 points from 655 up. You also have to complete the whole course, meet the accuracy benchmarks in your study plan and send TTP your official score report within 30 days of the test. If you qualify and your score does not improve, the remedy is another free course subscription, not a refund.
