That gap is the most useful thing to know before you subscribe, and it is not mentioned on either page. Osmosis runs two price ladders for one product, and which one you see depends on whether you tapped an app store button or a web button.

Osmosis Nursing Overview

Osmosis is an Elsevier product built on animated medical videos, and the nursing plan is the version of that library aimed at student nurses. It is sold as the Osmosis RN plan, which covers both nursing school coursework and the licensure exam rather than the exam alone.

The company is explicit about this. Its NCLEX page says the product is "best for nursing students who are reinforcing foundational concepts as they prepare for the next stage of their education." That is a content claim, not an exam-readiness claim, and it is the honest framing of what you get.

The same subscription covers NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN content in separate libraries, and the App Store listing adds that the question bank is also aimed at ATI exams, HESI exams and course finals. If you are a semester away from the NCLEX, that breadth is the point. If you take the exam in six weeks, most of it is content you will not touch.

The price depends on where you tap buy

This is the finding that should decide your purchase. Osmosis publishes two different sets of prices for the nursing plan, and they do not match.

The website's RN plan page sells four options: a free 7 day trial, $69 for three months, $139 for twelve months, and $229 for twenty-four months. There is no monthly plan.

The practical rule falls out of the arithmetic. If you need one or two months, buy monthly in the app: $29 or $58 beats the website's $69 minimum. If you need three months, the website wins, because three months of in-app billing is $87. If you need around six months, the in-app $79 tier works out to $13.17 a month and there is nothing on the website at that length.

One more number to watch. Osmosis labels the annual plan "$10/month", but that is the discounted $125 promotional price divided by twelve. At the $139 list price the real figure is $11.58 a month.

It teaches well, and it does not test like the exam

The videos are the product, and they are good at what they do. Short animated lessons with memory anchors are a genuinely different experience from reading a rationale, and for a student who can recognize a right answer without being able to explain it, that is the gap worth paying to close.

The question side is more limited than the headline number suggests. The NCLEX Quiz Builder lets you filter the bank by core content, nursing concepts, NCLEX test plan category and cognitive level, then build a custom quiz and save it for later. Elsevier's own documentation notes these are "and" filters, so the more boxes you tick the smaller your quiz gets. It is a competent custom quiz tool.

What it is not is an exam simulator. Osmosis advertises no computer adaptive test simulation and no readiness score on either its NCLEX page or its RN plan page. The nursing app is the one that carries the NCLEX quiz builder and the nursing price ladder, so download it by name rather than following the link on the feature page. The ratings gap also tells you something about scale: the med school app has roughly twenty-eight times the Google Play review volume, which is a fair signal of where Osmosis's centre of gravity sits.

Offline downloads work across both, and they are the most useful thing the app does for a working student. Videos, notes and printable med tables come down to the phone, so a commute or a break between clinicals turns into study time without a connection.

Two conditions matter more than the numbers. The trial genuinely requires no credit card, which is rarer than it sounds and means you can evaluate the teaching style at no risk. And refunds, per the FAQ on the plan page, "are available only for subscriptions of one year or longer."

Osmosis says most nursing students prepare for four to twelve weeks. On that timeline, two months of in-app billing at $58 or the three-month website plan at $69 are the two sensible buys, and the annual plan only makes sense if you are also using Osmosis for coursework.
