All the GMAT, 8th Edition Review

Manhattan Prep's All the GMAT is the most thorough print strategy set for the current GMAT, and the two books inside it are worth owning. The set is not, because at $109.99 it costs $22.90 more than the same two books bought on their own listings, where All the Quant + DI is $45.22 and All the Verbal is $41.87.

Every other write-up about these books quotes the set price and stops. Nobody checks what the component volumes cost separately, and nobody mentions that Manhattan Prep publishes six corrections to this edition on its own website. Both are below, along with what the books teach that the Official Guide does not. Everything here was read on 19 September 2026.

All the GMAT Overview

All the GMAT is two paperbacks and a digital account. It is a strategy course in print: it teaches you how to approach each question type, then gives you Manhattan Prep problems to practise the approach on. It is not a question bank, and it holds no official material, which is why we rank it behind the GMAT Official Guide among GMAT prep books and recommend owning both.

The 8th edition was published on 2 July 2024 and is built for the current exam. Per the set listing, you get:

• All the Quant + DI, 552 pages covering Problem Solving, Data Sufficiency, Tables and Graphs, Two-Part, and Multi-Source Reasoning, plus statistics, algebra, word problems, fractions, ratios and number properties
• All the Verbal, 528 pages covering Critical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension, including the CR and RC material from Manhattan Prep's GMAT Foundations of Verbal
• A Harder Quant e-book aimed at students chasing a top Quant score
• An online study portal with a custom practice quiz creator, a performance tracker, a 12-week interactive syllabus, and written strategy supplements on timing and test anxiety

Two absences are worth naming before you buy. Manhattan Prep's content list for this edition names no Sentence Correction and no geometry, which is what you would expect for the current exam but is a surprise if you inherited an older study plan. And there is not a single official GMAC question in either book. These are Manhattan Prep's own problems, written to look like the exam, which is a different thing from the exam.

The strategy writing is the reason to buy these books

The Official Guide shows you what GMAT questions look like. It does not teach you a method, and its explanations justify the right answer rather than building a process you can repeat. That gap is the hole All the GMAT fills, and it fills it better than anything else in print.

The Quant volume is the stronger of the two, and buyers agree: it holds 4.7 out of 5 from 67 ratings against 4.2 from 15 ratings for the Verbal book. The Data Insights chapters are the specific reason to own it. Data Insights is the section most students have the least instruction for, and a full print treatment of Data Sufficiency, Multi-Source Reasoning, Two-Part and graph questions, with named approaches for each, is not something you can assemble from free material.

The Verbal book is good and narrower. With Sentence Correction gone, it has two question types to teach, and it teaches them at length. The honest weakness is volume and pace. These are 1,080 pages of instruction, and they are dense. If you have three weeks, this is the wrong purchase, because you will not get through it and the parts you skim will not stick. Manhattan Prep lists six corrections to this edition, and they are worth marking

This is the part no review mentions, and it takes ten minutes to act on.

Manhattan Prep publishes an errata page for each volume. For All the Quant + DI there are four corrections against printing 8.0:

• Page 46, the Data Sufficiency process: two instances of "cost" should read "price"
• Page 55, the C-Trap: the second equation should be A = B + 4, not A = B minus 4
• Page 204, Step 3 of the problem-solving process: the decimal value of 1/200 is given as 0.02 and should be 0.005
• Page 425, chapter 24 problem 7: the answer value 17/24 should read 7/24

For All the Verbal there are two:

• Pages 266 to 270, chapter 12: the problem set is misnumbered and starts at 5 instead of 1, while the solutions use the correct numbering
• Page 465, Inference Questions: the text tells you to compare (A) and (D), then labels the second choice (B)

Only the page 204 error can actively teach you something false, and a decimal error in a worked example is exactly the kind of thing a student copies into an error log and trusts for weeks. The rest cost you time rather than accuracy. Six published errors across 1,080 pages is a respectable ratio for a book this technical, and Manhattan Prep deserves credit for listing them in public. Write them into your copies on day one.

The online portal is the only thing the set actually adds

Both books are sold on their own, and both singles come with access to Manhattan Prep's online learning platform: extra practice problems, interactive video lessons, and the written timing strategies. The Harder Quant e-book, which the set page advertises as an exclusive, is listed on the standalone All the Quant + DI page as included there too.

So what does the extra $22.90 buy? On Manhattan Prep's own descriptions, two things: the custom practice quiz creator with its performance tracker, and the 12-week interactive study plan. The quiz creator lets you build sets filtered by question type, difficulty and content area, and the tracker reports on what you are getting wrong. The 12-week plan is a dated syllabus that tells you what to do each day.

Both are useful. Neither is worth $22.90 if you already have a study plan, and the quiz creator draws on Manhattan Prep's question pool rather than official questions, so it is a drilling tool rather than a source of realistic practice. If you want a platform that sequences your work and grades it, that is a course, and Target Test Prep or Manhattan Prep's own GMAT course do it properly.

The set is the most expensive way to buy the two books it contains.

The arithmetic is not subtle. $45.22 plus $41.87 is $87.09, and the set is $109.99, so bundling costs you $22.90, or 26.3 percent. The set is also listed at 45 percent off a $199.99 list price while the singles show 43 and 48 percent off $79.99 each, which is how a set can advertise the bigger discount and still be the worse deal.

Buying new matters here in a way it does not for most books. The listing states that the serial code supplied with a new set is one time use, and Manhattan Prep's own note on the single volumes says products bought from third-party sellers are not guaranteed access to any online resources. Used copies of the Quant book start at $13.86 and the Verbal book at $23.54, which is tempting until you work out that the saving removes the digital half of what you are buying. If you want the platform, buy new. If you genuinely only want the printed instruction, used is fine and cheap.

One budget note for the whole plan. These books teach method and contain no real GMAT questions, so the realistic total is this set plus official material: $109.99 plus the $69.70 print Official Guide bundle is $179.69, and buying the Manhattan Prep volumes as singles brings the same combination to $156.79. Add GMAC's official practice exams when you are six weeks out, because neither Manhattan Prep book includes a full-length test.

Who All the GMAT Is Best For

• Students who need to be taught, not just tested, and who have found that official explanations tell them the answer without giving them a method
• Anyone weak in Data Insights, since the Quant + DI volume is the most complete print instruction available for the newest section
• Self-studiers with 8 weeks or more, because 1,080 pages of instruction needs time that a short retake plan does not have
• Second-attempt candidates who scored below target after drilling official questions and now need to fix how they approach them
• High scorers pushing Quant, who get the Harder Quant e-book with the standalone Quant volume

When You Might Look Elsewhere

• If you own nothing yet, start with the GMAT Official Guide instead. Real exam questions come first, and Manhattan Prep is the thing you add when the explanations are not teaching you enough

Final Verdict

All the GMAT, 8th Edition earns 4.0 out of 5 on the quality of its instruction. The Quant and Data Insights volume is the best print teaching available for the current exam, the Verbal book handles its two remaining question types thoroughly, and both are current rather than reheated from a pre-Focus edition. Manhattan Prep also publishes its own errata, which is more than most publishers manage.

The point comes off for the packaging rather than the writing. A set that costs more than the books it contains is a pricing decision, not an editorial one, and the exclusive e-book is not exclusive. Add no official questions and no full-length exams, and this is a supplement to your prep rather than the centre of it.

Pair them with the Official Guide, whose questions come from the exam itself, and treat Manhattan Prep as the part that teaches you how to attack them.
