NCLEX Bootcamp vs SimpleNursing (2026): Which One Should You Buy?

These two courses are not really competing for the same job, and that is the most useful thing we can tell you before you spend any money.

NCLEX Bootcamp is a question bank with a strategy course bolted onto it, built to get you exam-ready in one to three months. SimpleNursing is a teaching library. Nurse Mike's 1,200+ animated lessons cover nursing school coursework and NCLEX content alike, and the NCLEX plans wrap that library in a 4,500-question bank and adaptive practice tests.

We rate Bootcamp as the best all-around NCLEX prep course for most students in 2026, and we still do after this comparison. But be clear about the gap you are accepting: Bootcamp has no full-length lecture series at all. If you finished nursing school two years ago, or pharmacology never clicked, that is a real problem and SimpleNursing solves it better than Bootcamp does. Price and Plan Structure

Bootcamp's pricing is the simplest thing about it. One product, three durations: $59 for one month, $99 for two, $129 for three, verified 26 September 2026. The content is identical across all three, so you are only buying time. Bootcamp lists those as discounts off $79, $159 and $239, offers Klarna and Afterpay installments, and lets you pause your membership after purchase if your exam date slips. SimpleNursing sells more, and this is where students get burned. As of 26 September 2026: Nursing School Pass at $20/mo, $105 per semester or $180 billed once for a year. NCLEX-RN Prep at $60/mo or $139 for a 90-day pass. NCLEX-PN Prep on the same structure. A standalone NCLEX-RN Pass Guarantee tier at $189 once. And the Full Journey Pass at $312 once for 24 months.

On raw cost for a three-month push, Bootcamp at $129 slightly undercuts SimpleNursing's $139 90-day pass. Call it a tie. The pricing question that actually matters is which plan carries the guarantee, and we come back to that below.

Video Lessons and Content Review

This is SimpleNursing's category and it is not close.

SimpleNursing says it has 1,200+ animated video lessons, 1,000+ digital study guides, a 26-hour NCLEX Review Lecture Series and a 50-video Exit Exam and HESI series. The teaching style is the draw: Nurse Mike sketches the concept, hangs a mnemonic on it, and moves on. For pharmacology and for fluid and electrolytes, the two subjects that sink the most candidates, that works better than re-reading a textbook chapter. The company says it has taught more than 1,000,000 nursing students, and it holds 4.7 out of 5 from 2,926 reviews on Trustpilot.

Bootcamp has no equivalent. It has crash course videos on high-yield topics, each followed by a quiz, and a 9-lesson Next Gen strategy course running about two hours. The strategy course is the clearest explanation of NGN item types we have seen anywhere. But crash courses are review, not instruction. They assume you already learned the content and just need it refreshed.

So be honest about which you are. If you can read a rationale and follow it, Bootcamp's explanations will teach you plenty. If you read a rationale and think "I never learned this," you need lectures, and you should read our full SimpleNursing review next.

Question Bank and NGN Coverage

SimpleNursing has more questions. Bootcamp has more of the right ones.

SimpleNursing's NCLEX-RN bank is 4,500+ questions, of which the company says 1,400+ are Next Gen items. Bootcamp's bank is 2,600+, updated weekly, all written for the NGN and aligned to the 2026 NCLEX-RN test plan that took effect on 1 April 2026. So on NGN-specific volume it is roughly 2,600 to 1,400 in Bootcamp's favour.

Bootcamp's case studies are the standout: 50 of them, six items each, every one with a video walkthrough where an instructor reasons through the case out loud. That is the closest thing on the market to watching someone think like a nurse in real time, and it is the single best argument for Bootcamp. One practical note: Bootcamp has no separate NCLEX-PN question bank. SimpleNursing does, on the same pricing structure as the RN plan.

Practice Tests and the CAT Format

SimpleNursing wins this one on a technicality that is not really a technicality.

Bootcamp gives you 4 full-length readiness exams, 100 questions each, with a pass prediction rated Low, Borderline, High or Very High. They are fixed length, not computer-adaptive. The real NCLEX is adaptive, so these simulate the content but not the experience of the difficulty climbing or dropping under you.

SimpleNursing includes adaptive CAT practice tests on its NCLEX plans, plus 6 readiness assessments with pass prediction. If sitting a test that behaves like the real thing settles your nerves, that is worth something.

We would not overstate it. The evidence that CAT practice improves scores is thin. But Bootcamp does not sell adaptive practice at all, so you would need to pair it with something else from our NCLEX prep course rankings.

Study Planning and Support

Bootcamp takes this one back.

Its study schedule generator takes your start date, exam date and days off, then builds a day-by-day plan and rebalances it when you fall behind. There is also Ask Bootcamp AI, which will summarize a crash course video into structured notes, plus 140+ printable cheat sheets.

Then there are Pass Targets, Bootcamp's smartest feature. Three thresholds: a 62% score, 85% of the question bank completed, and all 4 readiness exams attempted. Bootcamp says 99% of students who hit all three pass. Whether that number holds up or not, three concrete targets beat the usual advice to just do more questions.

SimpleNursing's structure is the video curriculum itself, a reasonable spine but less responsive when life gets in the way. Neither course offers live classes. Both have mobile apps, and Bootcamp's is rated 4.9 stars across roughly 15,000 reviews, covered in our NCLEX mobile app roundup.

Guarantees

Read this carefully, because the two guarantees are not the same kind of thing.

Bootcamp's is a full refund of what you paid. It applies to the 2-month and 3-month plans only, not the $59 one-month plan. You have to buy at least 30 days before your exam, meet all three Pass Targets, and supply the name of your accredited US or Canadian nursing program along with your failure result.

SimpleNursing's is extended access until you pass. You do not get your money back, you get to keep using the product. That is worth having, but a student who fails and walks away gets nothing from it.

Now the trap. As of 26 September 2026, the popular $139 90-day NCLEX-RN pass does not include the guarantee. Neither does the $60 monthly plan, nor any Nursing School plan. The guarantee lives only on the $189 NCLEX-RN Pass Guarantee tier and the $312 Full Journey Pass. If you buy the $139 pass assuming you are covered, you are not.

The Verdict

Bootcamp wins for most students, and the margin is narrower than our overall ranking suggests.

What tips it is fit for purpose. The NCLEX tests clinical judgment in Next Gen item formats, and Bootcamp built everything around that one problem: 2,600+ NGN questions, 50 case studies with walkthroughs, a strategy course explaining the formats, Pass Targets telling you when you are ready, and a refund if you do all that and still fail. But we will say plainly what Bootcamp is missing. There is no lecture series. If you cannot follow the rationales, Bootcamp cannot teach you the material from scratch, and no amount of NGN alignment fixes that. SimpleNursing can, better than almost anyone, and it adds adaptive tests, a bigger bank and a free trial on top.

There is also a good third answer: SimpleNursing to learn the content, Bootcamp for the final six to eight weeks of drilling. At $180 plus $99, that combination costs less than most single premium courses and covers both jobs properly.

SimpleNursing, without much argument. Its animated lessons with mnemonics are built for exactly this kind of memorization-heavy content, and Bootcamp has no lecture series to compete with. Bootcamp's pharmacology cheat sheets are useful once you already know the material, but they will not teach it to you.

Does NCLEX Bootcamp have computer-adaptive practice tests?

No. Bootcamp's 4 readiness exams are fixed-length at 100 questions each, with a Low, Borderline, High or Very High pass prediction. SimpleNursing includes adaptive CAT tests on its NCLEX plans. If CAT-style practice is non-negotiable, Bootcamp cannot give it to you.

Which SimpleNursing plan actually includes the pass guarantee?
